I am Gary Druskovich, a retired clinical anesthesiologist with twenty-eight years of private practice and substantial leadership experience, including roles as CEO of three major hospitals and a specialized treatment facility. Throughout my career, I have tackled diverse healthcare environments, from private practices to institutions with largely employed medical staff.
My decision to pursue a Master’s of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame, on top of my medical degree from Michigan State University and residency at the University of Michigan, was fueled by a pressing need for qualified physician leaders in healthcare management. My experience on a regional hospital board further deepened my understanding of the administrative challenges facing our healthcare institutions.
As a servant leader dedicated to the welfare of the poor and vulnerable, I believe in the power of compassionate leadership to effect positive change. My tenure in hospital management was marked by significant improvements in safety protocols and financial stability, proving my commitment to high reliability and patient-centered care.
If elected, my tenure will be guided by the principle "Let’s Heal," ensuring that every decision brings us closer to a healthcare system that truly serves the needs of Indian River County.
Living in Vero Beach, I’ve observed firsthand the divides within our medical community, which too often negatively impact patient care. I am committed to bridging these gaps, enhancing collaboration among medical staff, and restoring the focus of the Indian River Hospital District to its core mission of providing quality care, great patient experiences, and reasonable costs.
